Air Marshal Narasimhan joined The Royal Air Force prior to the Independence of India and was in action during the second world war.
After Independence he was serving the Indian Air Force in different capacities with distinction and was elevated as AIR MARSHAL.
He is the highest ranking perssonal from the defence services in VANGAL family.He was awarded PARAM VISHISHI SEVA MEDAL ON 26TH JAN 1974.EXTRACT OF THE CITATION DATED 30TH MAR 1974
Air Marshal Krishnama Chari Narasimhan was commissioned in the Aeronautical Engineering(Electronics)Branch of Indian Air Force in March 1943.He held with distinction variety of various appointments.He also successfully attended specialist and staff courses in the UK and in this country,including the National Defence College.As Commands Signal Officer of No 1 operational Group,immediately after partition,he was responsible for the operational planning and implementation of the `Signal Plan`for the Group,which contributed a great deal to the success of the Air Force Operations during J&K Operations 1947-48.
During his tenure as Deputy Director of Technical Services(Mechanical Transport)at Air Headquarters,he planned and implemented the scheme whereby the Air Force took over from the Army the responsibility of second line servicing of all mechanical transport used by the Air Force.
As the commandant of the Air Force Technical College,he introduced modern training methods and thereby improved theefficiency of training at the College.
In 1963 when the requirement of technical persons went up,he geared up the organisation at the college so well that the challenging task of accelerated training,was accomplished with out any deterioration in quality.
As Director of Signals ,he improved the operational preparednessand capability of the Air Force in the field of Electronics,during Indo-Pak Conflict,1965.In 1970 he was appointed the first Asst Chief of the Air Staff(Systems).In this capacity,controlled and directed the activities of three Directorates.
THAT DURING THE INDO-PAK CONFLICT1971,ALL THE` SYSTEMS`IN THE INDIAN AIR FORCE WORKED EFFICIENTLY AND CONTRIBUTED TO THE SUCCESS OF THE OPERATIONS WAS, IN NO SMALL MEASURE ,DUE TO HIS METICULOUS PLANNING AND PROGRESSIVE LEADERSHIP.
THROUGHOUT,AIR MARSHAL KRISHNAMA CHARI NARASIMHAN RENDERED DISTINGUISHED SERVICE OF THE MOST EXCEPTIONAL ORDER(Italics mine).
